Hardcore Defense Alpha Shield Backpack Insert
This is a smaller version of the Alpha Shield ballistic shield intended to be
inserted into backpacks or briefcases. Other than the smaller size and absence
of a handle it is identical to the popular Alpha Shield. Haven't seen what the
Alpha Shield can do? Then check out these independent reviews by Demolition

Specifications:
Certified to National Institute of Justice Standard 0108.01 Level IIIA
9.5” x 14” fits most backpacks and briefcases
4.5 lbs weight
Black polymer coating for abrasion and corrosion resistance
Like virtually all other backpack inserts this product is certified NIJ IIIA
for protection against handgun rounds. NIJ IIIA products will not stop AR-15,
AK-47, or other high velocity rifle bullets in most circumstances. They may
stop rifle bullets fired from long ranges, striking at shallow angles to the
plate, and/or which are slowed, tumbling, or blunted due to passing through
intervening walls, doors, desks, books, etc. NIJ IIIA rated products will
also generally stop shrapnel and debris thrown by small improvised explosive
devices.
That said, the Alpha Shield is the toughest NIJ IIIA rated ballistic product
available and will be superior to any soft armor panel with respect to
resisting hits near the edge of the panel and near previous hits. The Alpha
Shield backpack insert will also absorb hits with minimal blunt trauma, is
thinner, and has no shelf life or storage restrictions, whereas soft armor
panels typically have only a 5 year shelf life due to natural polymer
deterioration with age.
Purchaser is responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal laws
regarding purchase and use of ballistic protection products. Hardcore Defense
assumes no liability for illegal use or misuse of the product.
Ebay required wording to list: "This model complies with NIJ Standard-0101.06
for Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor" Hardcore Defense pointed out to them
this is the wrong standard for shields (we use a similar NIJ 0108.01) but
changing it seemed outside of their ability. Trust us, our product is NIJ IIIA
per the government testing standard appropriate for ballistic shields.
